BTS ARMY:Uniting Peoples Across the Globe

BTS ARMY

No matter if you’re a newbie or a seasoned fan, you’ve likely encountered the passionate “BTS ARMY” supporting K-pop superstars BTS. But have you ever wondered what ARMY stands for, and why the band chose such a powerful name for their fans? Let’s delve into the meaning behind this iconic fandom!

What is BTS ARMY?

In 2013, shortly after their debut single “2 Cool 4 Skool,” BTS named their fandom as “ARMY”. While “Adorable Representative MC For Youth” is the official acronym for ARMY, the name carries another powerful meaning.

“Bangtan Sonyeondan,” which translates to “Bulletproof Boy Scouts” in English, is the full name of BTS. If ARMY is the military then BTS is the armor, which is a metaphor for how the band and its fans stick together. If we see their logo, we will find that the logo of BTS and the logo of ARMY completes each other.

The Birth of BTS Army

ARMY wasn’t the first choice for the name of the fandom. They at first thought to name it as “THE BELLS”. In an interview in July 2021, BTS’ rapper RM revealed this. RM, also revealed a fun fact about the band’s name. In Korean, “BTS” actually stands for “bangtan,” and “bell” in Korean also starts with the “bang” sound. This almost led to their fandom being named “The Bells,” with fans ringing bells to make noise. Thankfully, the final choice, “ARMY,” resonated much better with everyone.

Finally, in 2013 after the release of  “2 Cool 4 Skool,” BTS named their fandom as “ARMY” almost immediately.

First recruitment in army

The first ever ARMY who trusted and supported BTS is a little girl named  “Mishika Huya”. She gathered 33 fans in the first fan meet of BTS. During the earlier years when no one believed in the potential of that small boy group , she believed them. Now she is the Queen of The BTS army. She is from Japan and now also the president of the Fandom.

The Size of The ARMY

As per data of 2022 there are 90 million ARMY in more than 100 countries throughout the globe. 84% of their fans are youth and teenagers. After a survey in November,2022, on a batch of 0.5 million people, some interesting data pops up. Almost 30% of people in the ARMY are below 18 years and 0.5 % are above 60 years.

If we talk about the present scenario, there will be almost billions of  BTS ARMY there across the globe.

Conclusion
