‘Laapaata Ladies’ a film directed by Kiran Rao and produced by Aamir Khan, Kiran Rao & Jyoti Deshpande released in theatres on 1 March. Kiran Rao made a marvelous comeback as director after ‘Dhobi Ghat’ (2010). On day 1 the movie received a positive response from the audience.

At the box Office on the day of opening the movie collected Rs.0.65 crore in India as reported by sacnilk. The Box Office saw an estimated occupancy 8.12% on 1 March, Friday.

The cast of the film includes Nitanshi Goel as Phool Kumari, Sparsh Srivastav as Deepak, Pratibha Ranta as Pushpa, Chhaya Kadan as Manju Maai, and Ravi Kishan as Shyam Manohar Police Officer.

Movie Plot

The movie is set in rural India in the year 2001. The comedy and the satire revolve around the swapping of two newly married veiled Brides traveling in the same train compartment. The movie continues as Deepak (Sparsh Srivastav) reaches his home with the wrong wife Pushpa (Pratibha Ranta) instead of his newly wedded wife Phool (Nitanshi Goel). Deepak’s family discovers the mishap on unveiling the new bride.

While Phool remains stranded at a railway platform where she befriends a middle-aged woman Manju Maai who sells tea at the platform. Heartsick Deepak registered a missing complaint at the Police station in search of Phool. The corrupt Police officer (Ravi Kishan) agrees to help find this opportunity as lucrative.

While Pushpa settles in Deepak’s family, Phool embraces a journey of self-wakening leaving behind the girl who refuses to take husband’s name at the beginning of the movie.

The plot builds up beautifully, sarcastically and the story unfolds. The 125 minutes film keeps the audience engaged. The so-called “norms of the society” from the rural India have been represented marvelously. With a great concept and powerful performances by the actors, this movie is a great watch. Written by Biplab Goswami and screenplay & dialogues by Sneha Desai, the threads of the movie have been woven with social message which makes it a must-watch.
