POCO F6 Review: Are you in the market for a new smartphone that offers incredible value for money without compromising on performance? Look no further than the POCO F6, also known as the Redmi Turbo 3! Let’s dive into what makes this phone a must-have in the crowded smartphone market.
POCO F6 5G Review with Detailed Specifications
Design & Build Quality of POCO F6:
The design of the POCO F6 is pretty simple with a shiny pattern on the back. It’s made of plastic, specifically polycarbonate. Unlike its predecessor, the POCO F5, which had three cameras, this one has only two. The sides are flat and made of plastic too.
The build quality is solid with Gorilla Glass Victus protection, making it durable even if you accidentally drop it. Since the back is plastic, it’s less likely to get damaged. However, it might leave marks on surfaces if you slide it around. Overall, it seems sturdy on the outside; now let’s look inside.
POCO F6 Display:
It has a large 6.67-inch screen with super high resolution called 1.5K. Unlike before when it had FHD+, now it has an even better display with 120Hz fast refresh rate and Dolby Vision support, making videos and images look amazing.
The display is really advanced, with 12-bit color depth, super bright at 2400 nits, and uses a technology called PWM dimming at 1920Hz.
Plus, the edges around the screen are very thin, making the display look really sleek and beautiful. Overall, it’s a stunning flat screen that makes everything look great.
Ports & Buttons of POCO F6:
On the right side, there’s a microphone, a USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer, a speaker grille, and buttons for turning the phone on and off and adjusting the volume.
On the left side, there’s another microphone for canceling noise, an IR blaster, which is used to control TVs and other devices, and stereo speakers with another grille. One thing it doesn’t have is a 3.5mm headphone jack.
There’s a simcard tray at the bottom on this phone.
Processor of POCO F6:
It is the first phone in India to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8S Gen 3 processor. It’s a newer version compared to the previous Snapdragon 8th Gen 2. The AnTuTu score, a measure of performance, is 1.5 million. While the GPU in the older version might be stronger, the new one boasts a more powerful NPU, which means better AI features.
Storage of POCO F6:
In China, the base model comes with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, using LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage, similar to what’s found in flagship phones. This is an upgrade from the POCO F5, which had LPDDR3 RAM.
Software of POCO F6:
The F6 runs on Hyper OS based on Android 14, with three years of software updates. This phone introduces new software features like active visual perception and contactless gestures.
Performance of POCO F6:
It runs on the latest Snapdragon 8S Gen 3 processor, coupled with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of UFS 4.0 storage. In terms of benchmarks, it scores 1.5 million in AnTuTu, outperforming the Civi 4 Pro with the same processor. Geekbench results are impressive too, with a single-core score of 2004 and a multi-core score of 5252, although slightly behind the Civi 4 Pro in multi-core performance.
However, in 3D Mark tests, the older Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor performs better than the 8S Gen 3. The POCO F6 maintains 80% of its peak performance even after 60 minutes of continuous use, which is commendable.
When it comes to gaming, the phone excels. Games like COD Mobile and BGMI run smoothly with consistent frame rates on high settings, although BGMI doesn’t support 90 FPS yet. Genshin Impact and COD Warzone also perform well, but graphics loading could be better in COD Warzone.
Despite continuous gaming, the phone stays relatively cool, reaching around 40 degrees Celsius. However, during benchmark tests, it can reach up to 45 degrees Celsius, similar to the Civi 4 Pro.
Overall, in terms of performance, the POCO F6 is a significant upgrade over its predecessor, the POCO F5.
Camera Features of POCO F6:
The main camera of the POCO F6 is a 50 MP Sony LYT 600 sensor, while the ultra-wide camera remains an 8 MP sensor. Although it sounds like an upgrade, the photos lack detail compared to previous models. However, the videos are improved with 4K 60 support and no focus issues.
The selfie camera is a 20 MP sensor, capturing good shots and supporting up to 1080p 60 videos.
Hopefully, POCO will enhance the camera performance through better optimizations or by using superior camera sensors in the future, especially since newer sensors like the IMX 890 are becoming available at lower prices.
Multimedia Experience on POCO F6:
The multimedia experience on the POCO F6 is fantastic. It supports Dolby Vision for stunning visuals and Dolby Atmos for immersive audio. Plus, it features dual stereo speakers that deliver loud and high-quality sound.
Sensors on POCO F6:
The POCO F6 comes with all the essential sensors you need. It features an in-display fingerprint scanner, an improvement over the side-mounted scanner on the F5 and also supports face unlock for added security.
Connectivity and Other Features of POCO F6:
The F6 offers top-notch connectivity options. It supports WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, and all 5G bands, ensuring fast and reliable connections. Additionally, it has dual 4G VoLTE and WiFi calling support.
In terms of durability, it boasts IP64 certification, making it resistant to water and dust.
The camera features NView AI, which includes functions like Sky Replacement. It also offers voice translate capabilities, allowing you to create voice notes in Hindi, English, or Chinese. However, the voice translate feature doesn’t work for live calls.
While the Chinese variant comes with 2-3 AI features, it’s uncertain if the Indian version, known as F6, will have additional AI capabilities.
Battery & Charging of POCO F6:
The POCO F6 comes with a faster charging option, including a 90W charger in the box, which is an improvement from the 67W charger that came with the POCO F5. Despite the faster charging, the battery size remains unchanged at 5000mAh.
