The NFL is a brutal world where injuries can strike at any time, and fans of the Detroit Lions need to stay on top of what potential key pieces might miss this week. Whether it be a guy going down in practice, or getting hurt mid-game (or), last minute before kickoff and tweaks like that — (a team has to know) the injury status of its players on any given day can also have a huge impact. Today In Lions History: Toothless Key injuries for the septectomy is sires today
It is just a part of the NFL, and today it seems to be what the Detroit Lions are faced with as a few injuries have popped up that could potentially alter their play on Sunday. Here are the key injuries in today’s report:
Amon-Ra St. Brown (Wide Receiver): A nagging injury has limited St. Brown during practice this week. He has been attempting to work his way back into top form since then, but today’s report suggests he is still questionable for Sunday. If the Lions’ top receiver sits or is limited, it will pose a massive issue for Jared Goff’s passing game as St. Brown has been one of his preferred weapons when needing to move the chains and make clutch catches.
David Montgomery (Running Back): As always, Lions fans should be worried about the status of David Montgomery. As you would expect with a player on the mend, he has fought through injury for weeks at this point and is listed as doubtful to play in Week 12. However powerful running style would go a long way anchoring the backfield, and while freshman Jahmyr Gibbs has shown reason for expected excitement to continue growing, Montgomery ability to gain tough ones is missed in short-yardage and goal-line situations.
Injuries Today Will Impact Game Plan for Lions
Key injuries can sometimes the biggest impact on how a team will approach an upcoming game. A lot of decisions are going to have been made by the coaching staff with today’s injury report in hand on where they need to be creative offensively and defensively.

Though Quarterman and Groves have both shown that they can step up in these moments, neither player has been as consistent at getting open on the perimeter for quarterback Jayden Daniels as St. Brown has been this season. Also, expect to see plenty of bubble screens or slant routes in the flats with tight end Sam LaPorta who could benefit from someone like Goff looking for safer underneath throws just trying to advance down the field.

With Montgomery likely out of the backfield, Gibbs will carry a heavy load against that Cougar front. On the other hand, Gibbs is a between-the-tackles runner but runs in more of an outside zone system so it would probably require some tweaking from Anthony Lynn on play-calling to get him into serve more stretch zones and screen plays. And expect Craig Reynolds to receive more carries, especially on third and short situations where Montgomery has excelled.
