Rajkumar Rao’s upcoming movie Srikanth’s trailer released on 9th April and has already took the internet by storm. The movie is based on the real life of the visually impaired industrialist Srikanth Bolla, the founder of the Bollant industry.
The three-minute trailer opens with a visually impaired student played by Rajkumar Rao shares his aim to be India’s first visually impaired President with Dr APJ Abdul Kalam . The biopic is directed by Tushar Hiranandani and produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishnan Kumar & Nidhi Parmar Hiranandani. Jyotika, Sharad Kelkar and Alya F is seen in the supporting roles. Jyotika is playing the role of Srikanth’s teacher and Alya F is his love interest.
Who is Srikanth Bolla, the inspiration of the movie?
Born in a farmer’s family in Andhra Pradesh, Srikanth was born blind. After passing class 10, he was denied admission to the science stream. But to pursue his passion fo science, Srikanth filed a case against the Indian Education System. After waiting for six months, Srikanth was finally allowed to pursue his science and he also topped his class scoring 98% in XII board exam. His perseverance has opened up opportunities for visually impaired students to study science.
He further wanted to pursue engineering in IIT, however he was denied admission to the coaching institutes. But destiny has something else in its mind. Srikanth secured admission in one of the renowned colleges of US, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), becoming the first-ever international blind student with full financial aid.
After coming back to Hydrabad, Bolla set up Bollant Industries in 2012. His company employs people with different abilities and makes an impact both socially and economically. His visionary project is also backed by Ratan Tata. He has been named in the World Economic Forum’s Young Global Leaders 2021 list. In 2022 he married Veera Swathi.
Despite facing several challenges and hurdles, Bolla has set an example to the world by overcoming all the obstacles. The inspiring journey of CEO and Director, Srikanth will on the Silver screen on 10th May.
